I don't know if &stars; works, but I don't think so. I imagine they used a symbol font such as webdings. You'd have to go into a program like microsoft word and play with the fonts, once you find a font and which letter produces a star, do this:

<font face="webdings">X</font>Your myspace name

etc. that's just an example, of course, replace webdings with your font, and the X with the letter.
