Trouble with boys helpp please?

there is this guy ive been friends with since 7th grade (now im a sophmore and hes a freshman). but last year something happened between us we just didnt talk at all adn now this year we are friends again but idk if he is trying to be nice since i just lost someone close. im his top friend on myspace and we talk online everyday and talk in school if we see eachother. and we were suppose to go to a movie today "as friends" but i asked him yesterday if we were still on for today but he said he would be too tired from marching band idk if he was lying then he messaged me back saying i have to talk to you at the football game! i like him but idk should i ask him to homecoming does he like me or does he feel bad for me?

he also told me im pretty and we had like a little fight over it and hes like im not lying your beautiful he liked me 2 years ago but now idk i feellike he just didnt want to hang out with me today he was the one that said he would join me but then he just ditched me

if he really does like you then he may or may not hang out, i have marchin band as well and it tires me out a bit too, but he most likely will want to hand out with you any chance if he likes you. so just talk to him about it. whatever you do don't go to school and chicken out on asking.
