JUST engaged. Advice? Mature ppl only please....?

my fiance bought me this amazing ring. When he bought the ring, we were considered serious bf/gf. Well the message of this ring was "I want to ask you to marry me, but I want the ring to be as amazing as you are, and I cant afford something that extravagant at the moment." (I have NEVER questioned his love for me) so the ring now.. It didn't cost as much as engagement rings cost. Its a white gold ring with a very large "lab grown" diamond in the middle, with natural diamonds around it. and a few on each side along the top of the band. The ring is gorgeous! So it started out as, i dont know? a promise ring? So where im going with this is, earlier we were talking and I said, this ring is so big and pretty, ppl are gonna think were actually engaged. And he says, I really wish we were. And I said well then, lets just be engaged, we both want to. And he of course agreed So do you think the ring is inappropriate? So what is the problem? Do you not like the ring? If you don't just tell him that is the "starter" ring and when he is able to buy you a new one he can. BTW don't settle for just another ring. If you are going to marry this guy then you will have to look at that ring forever and you need to be sure that it is the one you want. Sorry if I sound Shallow but I never got an engagement ring and I had to buy our wedding bands myself. I have been married for over 8 yrs and now I look back on things and really wish I had gotten that perfect ring.
