Does anyone know what this guy (Spencer Chamberlain from Underoath) uses around his microphone?

I'm not really a fan, but I just wanted to know because I sing in a band and I tend to do a lot of mic spins and what not.

I don't think that he uses electrical tape because the lines on the microphone aren't lines made from wrapping layer upon layer of tape around it, but if anyone knows what it really is, i'd appreciate it.

It's a cloth sham. He probably uses it because he seems to sweat a lot while preforming.

I'm not familiar with the artist, but being a recording engineer, most likely it is a windscreen also known as a pop filter. It eliminates breath sounds or "pops" when plosive sounds (like P or B) are sung. Believe it or not, several wraps of spandex around the business end of a mic also works though most windscreens are made of a foam rubber material...and you can get them in colors. It certainly shouldn't be electrical tape or anything that would block air from hitting the mic's diafragm. Air has to pass through because the vibrations/modulations is/are carried through air.
